Terms & Conditions of Caravan Hire
Hire Limitations
All Hirers/ Drivers must hold a current Full Unrestricted Drivers Licence and be 25 years old and under 70 years old.- All Hirers/ Drivers must comply with all conditions on their licence.
- All Hirers/Drives must show 100 points of identification eg: (Current drivers licence, credit card electrical bill, passport ECT).
- The Hirers towing vehicle must a current Comprehensive insurance policy, registration for the hire period and out and about caravan hire requires copies of these.
- Hirers/ Drivers must not use out and about caravans to transport flammable substances, chemicals (other than for normal domestic use) or explosives.
- Hirers /Drivers must not tow out and about hire caravans/ camper trailer whilst driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
- Hirers /Drivers must comply with the law of the state that they are in.
- The Hirers must not lend or sub lease caravan/camper trailer or any of the property of out and about caravan hire to any other persons.
- Hirers/Drivers must not refuse to allow police to conduct a random drug test or refuse to accompany police and undergo a drug test, for the purpose of determining whether a driver has recently consumed illicit drugs.
- Hirers/ Drivers must not refuse to a police breath test or blood test to determine a blood alcohol content.
- Out and about caravan hire caravans/ camper trailers are restricted to NSW and QLD, unless prior agreement has been made and added to the contract by out and about caravan hire.
- Out and about caravan hire does not permit our caravan/ camper trailers to go on any unsealed roads eg; on the beach, on four-wheel drive tracks, across river crossing or across flooded roads.
- Hirers/Drivers must drive in a safe manner according to the weather conditions and traffic whilst towing an Out and About caravan/camper trailer.
- Hirers/Drivers are responsible for any traffic offences whilst towing the caravan/camper trailer ie; red light camera, toll evasion, speeding tickets
Damage
- Any damage to out and about caravan hires caravan/camper trailer depending of the severity, part of or the entire security bond will be retained at the discretion of out and about caravan hire.
- The awning should not be left up in windy /stormy conditions or when the caravan/ camper trailer is unattended.
- Should the tyres and rims of the caravan/camper trailer get a puncture, blow or shred it is the hirer’s responsibility to have them replaced at their own expense before the date returned.
- Any loose items are not to be stored on the floor of the caravan/camper trailer whilst travelling as this could damage the floor eg: eskys, waeco/ engel fridges, gas bottles or any hard items.
- All items on the inclusions list must be returned unbroken not substituted or a replacement fee will occur from the security bond.
If repair or replacement should exceed the security bond the Hirer will be responsible for paying the additional amounts.
Breakdowns
- Out and About Caravan Hire must be advised as soon as possible if a breakdown occurs. It is the Hirers responsibility to make sure that the caravan/camper trailer is safe and secure at all times. We suggest that the Hirer get road side assist in incase they have a breakdown, it is the hirers responsibility to make sure the caravan/camper trailer gets back to out and about caravan hire from the breakdown site.
- Out and About Caravan Hire is not responsible for the expenditure, inconvenience, loss or damage by the hirer in the event of a breakdown.
One Way Hire
- We do not do one way hire, in the event the caravan/camper trailer is not returned or we need to retrieve the van there is a charge of $130 per hour that it takes to get to the van and return to the place of initial pickup .
- There could also be a charge of per day hire rate.
Seasons
Off peak: Non School Holiday periods.
Peak: All School Holidays & Long Weekends*.
* Minimum 2 weeks booking period applies in the following periods:
- 1st December to 31st January.
- NSW & Queensland Public & Private School Holidays, (Easter, June, July & September/October).
- Long Weekends and all Public Holidays.
Weekend & Long Weekend Hire
- Are only available on standby and cannot be booked more than 21 days in advance (POA).
Terms of Payment
- A minimum deposit of 40% of the total hire charge is required to be paid at the time of booking.
- No bookings will be held unless this minimum 40% deposit is paid.
- The remaining 60% of the total hire is required to be paid least 21 days before departure.
- We accept Cash & Direct Bank Deposit.
- Security Bond is payable prior to departure (covering excesses and insurance costs). Long Term Hire will require an additional bond according to area of travel.
- Security Bond is refunded (in part or whole depending on the condition of the Camper Trailer/Caravan) to the Hirer within 7 working days after full inventory and maintenance check has been carried out by Out & About Caravan Hire.
- Out & About Caravan Hire reserves the right of hire refusal to any persons or towing vehicle deemed to be unsuitable.
- Out & About Caravan Hire reserves the right to cancel the Hire Agreement at any given time should the Terms of Payment be contravened and Deposit is then non-refundable
Cancellation Policy
- All cancellation notification must be in writing.
- Over 90 days notice, full refund of deposit paid less administration charge of $40.00.
- Over 45 days notice, refund of the deposit paid less a minimum charge of $200.00 or 25% of the total hire charge whichever is the greater.
- Over 22 days notice, refund of the deposit paid less a minimum charge of $250.00 or 30% of the total hire charge whichever is the greater.
- Under 22 days no refund, No show no refund.
- We recommend that you take out your own travel insurance policy
Accidents
- In the event of an accident involving the Out & About Caravan Hire Camper Trailer/Caravan the Hirer must notify Out & About Caravan Hire as soon as practicable.
- The Hirer is responsible for making the report to the Police in the event of any accident.

The Hirer is responsible for obtaining the following details:
- Name, DOB, Address, Phone Numbers, Driving Licence details of any other drivers involved
- The Registration number, Make, Model and Colour of any other vehicles involved.
- The name and address details of any witnesses present at the time of accident.
- The Police Officers Name and Station where accident is reported.
Stabilizers (level load hitch) and Mirror Extenders
- Above items are supplied by Out & About Caravan Hire (if required at no extra charge).
- Please ensure that your vehicle’s tow ball is removable to allow fitting of stabilizers
Trailer Plug
- All Out & About Caravan Hire Camper Trailers/Caravans have a Seven Pin Flat Plug fitted. Your towing vehicle will need a 7 pin flat socket fitted in good working order, wiring for 12v hotwire power to allow for Fridge and internal lighting when towing.
Loading and Vehicle Compatibility
- Specs vary from tow bar manufacturers, vehicle manufacturers and road safety groups. Out & About Caravan Hire cannot hire to the owner of a vehicle that does not comply. We can assist with loading techniques but the ultimate responsibility is with the Driver/Hirer.
Early/Late Returns
- Pick up and Drop off is before 10am unless previously arranged with out and about caravan hire.
- No refunds for early termination of a Hire Agreement.
- Out & About Caravan Hire allows 60 minutes grace before late charges occur.
- Any request for additional days is at the discretion of Out & About Caravan Hire and will rely entirely on future demand and availability.
Personal Items
- The Hirer is solely responsible for the security of their personal effects stored or held in the caravan/camper trailer ie; cameras, phones, video cameras etc.
Pets
- At no stage are any animals large or small allowed inside the caravan/camper trailer.
Smoking
- There is no smoking inside the caravan/camper trailer or in the annex (if one is provided). Also van must not be too close to camp fire in case smoke is to strong or ash is flying around to close. If there is excessive smoke smell there could be a charge against your bond.
Cleaning
- The caravan/camper trailer should be returned clean and tidy inside and out, if this does not happen a cleaning fee against your security bond will occur of $60 per hour.
First Aid Kit
- A First Aid kit is supplied in every Camper Trailer/ Caravan. If the seal is broken or the kit is not returned the kit becomes the property of the renter and a $30 fee is charged when the Camper Trailer/ Caravan is returned.
